2023: The Birth of the Home for Humanity Podcast

A Year in Review…

It’s been a big year. I began this project by calling this a “video interview project” instead of a podcast. EVERYBODY had a podcast and frankly there’s too many out there for me to listen too, and not enough time to explore them all. So I didn’t feel competent enough to start a podcast, and yet I know how simple of a process it really is. And yet, I had so much fear about recording my voice and putting it on the internet. Really, so much of my work is about humans being able to reclaim their voice, often related to sovereignty, freedom, family, and home.

Halfway through the year, I finally started calling it a podcast. And here I am, reflecting on the past 12 months, about to ring in a new year… and when I scroll through 13 episodes on my YouTube channel, I honestly feel a sense of pride. You guys… it’s an effing podcast!!! My friends, teachers, and colleagues who I’ve spent open-hearted time with have helped me share conversations that feel almost sacred. I feel so emboldened on this project, because I feel like authentic connection is needed now more than ever. I practice vulnerability with my conversations, and everyday after putting them online. Like many fearful humans with a dream, the vulnerability of honesty was almost scary enough to stay silent… But my desire to share something meaningful is the hunger for connection I think so many other people are looking for!

Where can you listen to the Home for Humanity podcast?

YouTube Podcast Playlist right now. The audio will someday be shared to Spotify, so keep an eye out for that update in 2024! Any other platforms I should look into? Email me suggestions!

Why did I name it the “Home for Humanity” Podcast?

I named my mission “Home For My Humanity” because this journey to find sustainable housing models for the next generation is tied intrinsically to our humane nature and feeling at home in the environment. I wanted to name the podcast something similar to capture the spirit of why my business exists. My services, products, and business goals are all very personal, both to me and my clients. My podcast is a place to really dive into the different facets of my work and the deep complexity of both home and humanity.

How many episodes should we expect in 2024?

I’ve committed to twice as many interviews as I put out in 2023, which was 13. So in the new year, I plan to release 26 interviews!

Is there a favorite interview moment of the year?

My first in-person interview was my final episode of the year! I hope to do more in-person conversations because it felt so much more intimate, and I would highlight it as a special moment so far in the journey.

What kind of people do I interview?

People with a humanitarian purpose, or spirit. People with a purpose to help humanity, connect us to our homes and communities, and steward the natural world. I find myself always meeting people who are interested in building home, community, or family. I interview people who can help inspire those of us seeking a strong home network, and give us the tools to strengthen those bonds.
